Work at the heart of European nature conservation

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) are seeking dynamic people to drive forward their vision and deliver strategic projects as part of its ongoing growth and development at the forefront of bird and nature conservation. All positions are based in Bulgaria, with attractive employment packages linked to experience and some European travel.

IMPERIAL EAGLE CONSERVATION OFFICER (1 POST)

1. PROJECT MANAGER
You will be responsible for the management of the first EU Life+ Nature project in Bulgaria, and will oversee the implementation of this complex 5-year €2,000,000 project with multiple national and international partners. You will have at least 5 years experience of major project and team management, with a commitment to conservation, and will be able to demonstrate excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with finance management is essential. Ref: PM

2. SENIOR PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR
An experienced and confident administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management and project administration of the €2m Life+ project. Working closely with the BSPB Finance Manager and Administration Team, you will be a highly organised person who can readily demonstrate excellent budgetary reporting and planning. You will have a love of nature, and offer with at least 3 years proven project or organisational administration and proficiency in reporting Ref: SPA

As an experience ornithologist and confident field worker, you will be responsible for undertaking the conservation activities specific to imperial eagles within the Life+ project, and will work closely with the parallel species conservation role (below). You will have at least 5 years proven experience of and commitment to raptor conservation and familiarity with contemporary research techniques. With a good science degree, you will be comfortable managing volunteers, data, and budgets. Refs: IECO

5. COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

By skilfully using integrated communications tools, you will create and maintain a high profile for the BSPB Life+ project, ensuring effectively promotion nationally and internationally to all key stakeholders. A team player, with a strong relevant degree and at least 5 years experience using integrated communications, you will understand the importance of effective use of traditional and contemporary audiovisual tools, and be confident speaking or writing Bulgarian and English to the media. 6. EDUCATION OFFICER

As part of the Life+ Project Team, you will lead BSPB’s efforts to raise awareness of threatened species, protected areas and conservation in key communities, with a specific emphasis on school education activities. With an education degree and 5 years relevant experience, you will be able to demonstrate strategic planning of education programmes, and be an outgoing inspiring educator with good communication skills who is comfortable working with children and adults alike.
